I was pretty successful with my sources. the most useful was the last one. i trusted the last one the most also. Im not sure which one displayed more bias out of all 4 of them.

Reflection paragraph on process

I felt like in some schools they ain't treated right with their tardy policy. The reason why is because some get fined some are made to take out the trash at lunch after the students are done eating. That ain't right to do to the students just because they are tardy. What was easy was finding the information. The thing that was hard was picking out the information to use. What i enjoyed was that now i know that our school ain't as strict as other schools are. The thing that i disliked was that in some schools they are chill about their tardy policy. If i was to do this project again i would choose other cites to look for other information on other schools and like what they do to their students that are late.

Reflection paragraph on findings

I found out alot of things about the tardy policies. One thing that i found out is that some schools is very strict with thier tady policy. Some schools make students take out the trash during lunch. In other schools they fine students that are late to school. In our school after 3 days of being tardy we get ISS. After the 7th day we get a hearing and go to alternative school which i think isn't right. The thing that surprised me is that they fine students for being tardy to school that was the most shocking out of all. The question i still have is that why they make the tardy policy so strict? Why can't they just make us coming to saturday school and make up the time that we have been tardy. I still think that they should settle down or atleast be a little less stricter with this policy.

Finding paragraph # 3

What would happen if all the schools didn't have any tardy policies? For one thing mostly every student would probably come in whenever they wanted to. Another thing that would happen is that probably alot of students would skip. They would get there education. If there wasn't any tardy policies to school and instead of having that then they would probably have different things like locking students out. If a teacher locks out a student when they are tardy and something happens to them then it would still be the teachers responsibility. It wouldn't be the same if there was no tardy policy. If they have it is so we can come to school but they shouldn't be so strict about it. That's what i think.

Finding paragraph # 2

What do they do in other schools for tardies? Alot of schools do different stuff. In one school some students said that they make them take out the trash if they tardy. I think that is messed up. That is like child labor abuse they shouldn't make you work for being tardy. In other schools they say they get fined for being tardy to school. In this school its even worser. Why should they get fines for being tardy to school? Now that is some messed up stuff. Im alright with our tardy policy except that if we get 7 tardies we get a hearing and go to alternative school. I think that thats messed up. They should atleast make us come to saturday school and make up the time we have been tardy instead of sending us off to alternative school.

Finding paragraph # 1

Why did they start using the tardy policy? There is alot ofg reasons why they started using the tardy policy. One reason is because alot of students always came in whenever they wanted to. Another reason why they started with the tardy policy is because the teacher always got tierd of having to wait and wait for the kids to come in. The teachers just wanted everything to be easier. They didnt know what to do so the teachers and parents got together and talked it all out and came out with a resolution of starting with the tardy policy.

Quote,paraphrase, and citation # 4

Back in 1998, several large Dallas area schools got tired of tardies and the problems they were causing.  So, they decided to stop complaining and to do something about it.  They approached FTI, the eCampusUSA parent company, about providing a solution for them.
After an initial meeting, it was clear to them that we not only had the ability to help them, but by using our proven method of Rapid Application Development and our top notch security expertise, we could help them beyond what they knew was possible and within a short period of time.
Initially, they thought that all they wanted to do was to eliminate handwritten tardy slips and to have a couple of reports.  But, the more they discussed it with our system designers, the more they realized that they wanted to do more than that and that the possibilities were not limited.
So, under our guidance, they began to dream big.  They decided that what they wanted more than anything was to get the students to class on time, which boiled down to two things—getting the parents involved and holding the students accountable.
Several concept meetings were held and a couple more large schools heard about the fun and wanted to join in.  Finally, they were able to do something about their problem—and they were excited.  At those early meetings, more of what they needed was brought to the surface.  They needed a system that:
  • allowed them to enter their unique bell schedules and periods
  • scheduled discipline for them, so they didn’t have to
  • allowed them to change the date of a previously scheduled discipline
  • took into account days off
  • would help provide them with proof if a parent threatened legal action
This is what happened and how they came up with the tardy policy. They didnt know what to do with the students so they just did this and thats how ecampusUSA started.

This graph show the tardies to school thru 06-10 the green stands for people who have no tardies and yellow stands for people who have from 1-5 tardies and the red stands for people who have over 6 tardies.

Quote, paraphrase, and citation # 3

"There is no state law or State Board of Education rule that details how schools should deal with less than prompt students. Carol Lear, director of law and legislation at the State Office of Education, said there is a state legal precedent that discourages schools from tying attendance to an academic grades. That means students who do well in a class shouldn't have their tardies in that class count against their grade without a way for them to make it up." What this principle is trying to say is that the people from thier district didnt say how to handle thier tardies. So basically what he is trying to say is that he can do whatever to deal with the tardies to his school.

They are waiting on the bus to go pick them up for school. The bus is probably late and they are goin to get marked tardy.

Quote, paraphrase, and citation #2

"I go to thornton high and this school use to be really tight on the tardy policy. When I started high school almost 4 years ago, they were really up tight about the whole tardy thing. If you were late, you had to go down to the lower commons and wait in a long line to get this thing called a late pass. Everyone in the halls knew you were late because the pass was lime green. They did this for three years. At the beginning of this year, My Senior year, they made it that you could be late for each class two times a week, but if you were late for a class more then two times in a week, you had to sign this paper and go to wednesday school. If you were taken out of class towards the end to go to wednesday school but you slipped away and left to go home, you got stuck with in school or out of school suspension for 1 to 3 days. The reason that they did wednesday school is because we get out of school here at 12:40 a.m. on those days so they wait until after that and the people in wednesday school don't get out until 3 p.m. Luckily, I havn't been late more then one time a week to any of my classes."  This guy or girl is explaing how thier schools tardy policy is. I think i would like this tardy policy better.

This is what alot of people do in the morning when they dont want to wake up to get ready for school. They turn off the alarm and go back to sleep.

Quote, paraphrase, and citation # 1

"I have a question for you guys accross the country. I go to Eaglecrest high school in Colorado, and we have a ridiculous tardy policy. If anyone is late even one second, the teachers close the doors and the students must go to a tardy station to pick up a slip to let them into the room. The slip is also a reminder of when they have to serve their 30-60 minute detention. If anyone is late repeatedly, they receive a Satuday school paper for 3 hours. the security gaurds comein and take the student outside the classroom to sign the paper, thus also taking away from learning time. I personally have not been late yet, so I am glad. What crazy rules do you guys have, and does this seem normal?"
What this is explaining is that this person wants to know how in other schools thier tardy policy is thats what this person wants to find out how others school tardy policy is.

This picture is for students that are late. When they are late they probably go back to sleep. It  relates to my topic because this is what most of the students do when they are tardy.

Preliminary links and description

https://www.at15.com/forums/issues/tardy_policy
This is a good website because it explains how other schools get punished if they are tardy to school. Another reason is because i can see that they reinforce the tardy policy even more then they do in green sea floyds high.
http://712educators.about.com/od/classroomhelpers/a/tardy.htm
They can create a tardy policy with the days they can come in tardy. Another thing is that some schools are doing this to mark tardies.

This website is what some techers think. There is alot of tardies everyday in different schools.

In utah they do different stuff to deal with tardies. In green sea floyds they only send you to iss or even make you stay for saturday school to make up your time you were late so they take your weekend freedom

What i want to know about my topic.

There are alot of schools that start the same time we do and there is some schools that start later. All of the schools count tardies. There are alot of questions that i want to know the answer to. For example....
1. Why do some schools start same time we do but get out earlier?
2. Why do techers enforce tardies so much?
3. why does the tardy bell ring at 7:55 and start marking us tardy  at that time.
4. Why cant they make school start like 5 min later?
5. How come ata starts same time green sea but gets out 30 min earlier?
Those are some questions that i want answers to. i want the tardies to atleast count them atleast 5 min later then usual.

What i already know abut my topic

There are alot of things i know about my topic. One thing that I already know is that the teachers in the front office always be keeping up on how many days you are late through the year. Another thing that i know is that last year they started to write up people for having only three tardies which i think was ridiculus. They started to write up because alot of people always started coming in late most of the time. The thing that i dont get is why are they starting school much earlier this year and we still getting out at the same time and last year we started later and got out at the same time we is this year . I think that this is wrong and they should make school tardy bell ring later then it is now. The reason that I know this is beacuse i got written up last year for tardies and i also knew that school started later then it does now. That is how i know about the tardies about it this year.

The story behind my topic choice

Why did the district start counting tardies? I think that they should have never started to count tardies or atleast made the time later instead of 7:50. i think they should start counting tardies like around 8:05. The reason why is because alot of people might have to work till late time and might not get enough sleep. Some people might live like an hour away from where they work at and if they get out of work like around 10:00 then they are goin to be getting home till 11:10 or sumthing like that. Some people might not work but sumthings could happen during the night. In the morning they might not even get thiere 8 hours of sleep because of work or etc... sometime people get only like 5 hours or maybe less.Or sometimes they might have to take thier little brothers to school because their parents are working. Thats why i think that school should start counting tardies like around 8:05 atleast.
